Don't worry about taking another four years in school, because you are only required to study for however many credits you have to make up for. Once you are finally done getting the credits you've been missing all this time, you can enroll in college just like anyone else with a proper diploma.
There is no ignoring it - high school credit recovery is the ideal way for a stray student to get back on track. Don't let a couple of bad decisions keep you from turning into the successful adult you were always meant to be.
