Why Is A Resume Generator The Best Secret To Writing An Impressive Resume?

Did you know that a resume generator, also known as a resume builder is the best secret for creating a resume to impress any employer? Most people are not aware of this, but it is true and you need to learn more about it now.

The first thing you need to know is that a resume builder online is going to give you a lot more than just an easy way to write a great resume. You will be given access to resume templates that are job specific, secure storage for any resumes you create, resume tips and the good builders will even provide step by step instructions.

That makes a resume builder the perfect tool for any person to use, beginners or experienced resume writers.

The second thing to understand is that when you are creating resume, you want to be sure you write a job specific one for each type of job you will apply to get. That shows employers that you took time to do your homework to learn what they wanted for their resumes and that you pay attention to details.

That is going to stand out with any employer because too many people hand them a general resume in hopes that the employer will not notice. It is always noticed, so utilizing a generator for resumes on the web is going to put your resume at the top of the pile and not the bottom of it.

Now that you can see why a resume generator is the best secret to writing an impressive resume, you have to decide if this is the secret tool you will use for creating your own professional and impressive resume. Just remember that if you really wish to get hired for a good job, having an impressive resume is the first and most important step in achieving your goal and a resume builder simplifies the whole process for you.

Anti Terrorism Officers Can Find Work with a Degree in Intelligence Studies

Defense spending surged after the attacks of 9-11. The lion's share of the defense spending was due to funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and in conducting antiterrorism activities. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimates that the U.S. military force level will remain fixed at 1.4 million service members through 2016. Defense spending is expected to increase from $491.5 billion in 2006 to $542.3 billion in 2016 which amounts to a 1% increase per year. Spending increases for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are expected to be a top priority for government spending.

The federal government appears poised to spend a large amount of money funding defense missions. One main defense mission is in the antiterrorism arena. Indeed, terrorists started the wars of the past ten years and the U.S. is taking a proactive role in preventing such attacks in the future. Such a proactive and preventative role will require more people who have training in intelligence and antiterrorism work.

The increase in anti terrorism officers and intelligence workers will very likely have to come from the private sector. If this area of defense is to continue to increase through 2016 new people will have to enter the field. Those new anti terrorism officers and intelligence workers can find a point of entry into their respective fields by attending a school focusing on strategic security. A few universities offer accredited degrees in the strategic security field (e.g., intelligence management, anti terrorism, protection management, etc) so the student will have to decide which one to choose from. All degrees are beneficial to have in the work force. A crucial factor in deciding their school of choice may very likely be the faculty. A faculty staffed with real veterans of the strategic security field will only enhance the quality of education and will allow the student to enter the workforce with the added wisdom that comes with years of experience.

A degree in strategic security, such as a terrorism degree or a degree in intelligence studies, has promise to lead directly to employment. This type of education can be so rewarding because the strategic security field continues to expand, even though the economy has been very slow. As such, a student in intelligence studies or a new graduate with a terrorism degree can probably find work directly related to their education. These new anti terrorism officers and intelligence workers will quickly be on track for career advancement because of having the right degree and the right faculty mentoring.

The take home message from the Bureau of Labor Statistics appears to be that jobs in the defense industry will be on the rise through 2016. This increase in jobs will almost certainly include specialties in the anti terrorism and intelligence fields. In this difficult economic time, then, it may be a wise choice for potential students to consider earning a terrorism degree or a degree in intelligence studies because this field will be looking for qualified workers through the near future.

Learning English In England; A Puzzling Business

There was a famous newspaper headline many years ago which declared 'Thick Fog in Channel - Europe Isolated'. It was, perhaps, an indication of the confidence and - dare one say it - superiority with which the British viewed their Continental neighbours at the time. So do we still think we're better than our European cousins? No, of course we don't; but we are an island race and have undoubtedly developed our own customs, habits and preferences distinct from those on the European mainland. And although these can be rather puzzling and even disorienting to young English-language students who come here for study-stays, their very reactions can be an interesting mirror in which to see ourselves as they see us.

Their first problem is, of course, the traffic. We have right-hand drive cars which we drive on the left. This means everything for the Continental visitor is on the wrong side.

They frequently look firstly to the left when they cross roads when they should be looking to the right.

This is less of a quirky national trait than it is a dangerous liability but trying to explain to a visitor why we drive on the side we do when, it appears to them, the whole world has chosen the other side is not easy.

There are sound historical reasons for the difference (too long to go into here) but unfortunately our Continental visitors depart with the grave suspicion that this is just another example of the British being 'difficult' and rather pugnaciously declaring their individuality.

If our guests do manage to get across the roads safely and find a bus stop for the journey home they are highly amused by the way the British queue, happy to wait in line. Buses, post offices, bank ATMs - we'll queue anywhere and for anything with great civility and fairness.

Indeed, queue jumping is still regarded as one of the worst social crimes one can commit in this country. We just don't do it and anyone who tries is likely to be put back in their place (or sent to the back of the line) in a highly peremptory manner.

Of course, queuing is not a uniquely British habit but it is one that we seem to understand instinctively.

It's said we have embraced queuing as a result of the rationing days of World War 2 when the popular joke was: 'If you see a queue, join it because they'll be something worth having at its head'.

And British queues are always marvellously self-policing. If anyone tries to 'push in' a natural leader will immediately emerge, with the instant consensus of the other queue members, to dispense justice.

So if your student has avoided death from the wrong direction and lynching by an angry bus queue they should be home in time for dinner.

Now, it's true to say that British Cuisine doesn't enjoy the greatest reputation or appreciation across the world largely because there is, in reality, no such thing - deep-fried Mars bars, chip butties and doner kebabs don't count.

You only have to watch TV programmes like The Simpsons with its jokes about delicious British 'brain and kidney pie' to realise that, when it comes to food, we are perceived as purveyors and consumers of all that is tasteless - in both senses of the word.

Just watch a European visitor's reaction to Marmite, lemon curd, corned beef or pork scratchings.

The French are a tad disappointed by our sliced white loaf and can't understand why we don't buy fresh daily bread on a daily basis like they do.

The Germans are just as disappointed by our sausages or, in reality, our sausage (singular) because we only really have the one and the utilitarian pork banger seems a bit of a limitation to people from a land that boasts more than thousand different types of wurst.

And the idea of putting together spaghetti and tomato sauce in a can leaves the average Italian rather bemused.

Yet for all the uninspired food favourites that we Brits consume in their tons each year there are some real gems, too.

Our jams and marmalades are a big hit with the visitors and it's not unusual to see them going home with bags and cases loaded with as many jars as they can carry.

But the real unsung hero of the British dinner table is the pudding.

Not until you see your European visitors demolishing plate loads of treacle roly-poly, apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess do you really appreciate that here, at least, Britain really does have a seat at the top table.

Odd though we can seem to Continental guests, our oddities, while wholly British, are also highly inclusive and we're happy to invite everyone to embrace them - as long as they remember to look the 'right way' before crossing the road.

Florida And The Fountain Of Youth

We all know the simplified version of the story of Columbus ?discovering? the Americas - his ship ran aground on the Eastern coast of the United States, he and the crew encountered the locals, and spontaneously awakened a universal awareness of an entire hemisphere. In reality, a number of seasoned explorers went ashore in a variety of locations over a period of time - each claiming areas in the name of their country of origin. This was also the case with the eastern peninsula that is now the state of Florida. What's unique about its story is that the explorer who found it was not looking for a land to claim in the name of his king, but rather he was searching for a mythical, life-restoring spring.

The legend of the Fountain of Youth is based upon the idea that somewhere, someplace, there is a well with restorative properties, that will bring youth to whoever drinks from it. It has been written about for thousands of years, in mythologies that reach all across the Eurasian continent. Notions of the fountain showed up in the writings of Herodotus, who thought it might have been in the land of the Ethiopians. Medieval fantasy stories mentioned the Fountain as being somewhere in India, and the concept even reached the indigenous tribes living in the Caribbean islands.

This last point became particularly important during the Age of Exploration, when European explorers had landed on the Islands and were setting foot on the Western Hemisphere for the very first time. The local tribes spoke of a mythical land called Bimini and its magical waters, which the Spanish colonialists may have taken to heart. At the same time, explorer Juan Ponce de Leon was tasked with finding Bimini; in 1513 he discovered the peninsula of Florida when he sailed northwest of the islands.

The two different chronologies became linked to one another, and as the stories morphed over time, it became a widespread notion that Pounce de Leon was after the Fountain of Youth. It seems preposterous in the modern age, when satellites have mapped every part of the Earth. However, there were no such maps in the 16th century; being an explorer meant that you could find land that none of your fellow countrymen had ever set foot on before.. A lot depended on plain old luck. In fact, the location of the mythical Bimini was not Florida, but probably the lands of the Maya civilization in the Yucatan Peninsula--in other words, totally the opposite direction.

Finding the Fountain of Youth is a recurring myth that surrounds Pounce de Leon. Writers who recounted the colonial activity in the Americas inflated the rumor into a wild conjecture, spurred by political interests and subtle jabs--like the suggestion that Leon was seeking the restorative cure for impotence, or witnessed elderly Indigenous tribesmen wade into the waters and emerge as vital young men again.

Much less mythical of course is the actual discovery of Florida. If Ponce de Leon was interested in discovering a Fountain of Youth, he never wrote about it in his journals, and it wasn't until after his demise that the legend became associated with him. Interestingly, there are some people that still derive profit from the myth. The city of St. At the spot where Ponce de Leon is thought to have landed, is the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, which is in Augustine. Despite the lack of scientific evidence for any curative properties, tourists still flock to the spot each year and drink the water, hoping to feel a little zip in their step. It is an erroneous, but romantic, aspect of the history of the Sunshine State.

Study Terrorism to Aid Counter Terrorism Training

One psychological theory that explains why a person becomes a terrorist is the frustration-aggression hypothesis. The frustration-aggression hypothesis suggests that terrorist behavior arises because of the frustration related to political and economic situations. The political and economic climates that foster such frustration are actually years of alienation and marginalization that lead to a need to enact change in a radical way.

Another explanation for terrorism is a sub-cultural theory. The sub-cultural theory proposes that terrorists occupy their own sub-culture with their own value system. That value system is the terrorist ideology and belief system which is usually a hybridization of a religious-sociocultural worldview. Closely associated with a terrorist sub-culture is the negative identity hypothesis. The negative identity hypothesis asserts that failure to attain a respectful role leads to the assumption of a negative identity (i.e., a terrorist identity).

An appropriate hypothesis for terrorism is one that focuses on psychopathology or abnormal development. Within this school of thought is the narcissistic rage hypothesis. This theory asserts that terrorists had developmentally ineffective experiences and suffer from narcissistic injuries and experiences throughout life which produces narcissistic rage. There are a host of other theories of psychopathology to account for terrorist behavior.

The terrorist mind can likely be explained by the above psychological hypotheses. However, no single theory can account for all terrorists. As a result, it is reasonable to presume that terrorists can be understood through the lens of some or all of the hypotheses. It is those psychological dynamics that interface with the political, economic, and religious factors that eventually lead to terrorism.

Indeed, those who join terrorist groups are often unemployed, socially alienated people who have dropped out of society. Those individuals likely join out of boredom or a need for adventure, not to mention economic incentives. The terrorists who are educated likely gravitate towards their organization out of real political or religious convictions.

The student of the behavioral or social sciences may notice a similarity between the conditions that foster terrorism and the conditions which lead to crime. For instance, it is well known that "opportunity" leads to crime. Socially alienated people who have no real means for upward mobility may find that criminal behavior is a way to accrue some sort of capital. This observation ties in with the data that suggests that poverty is a major risk factor for crime. Perhaps the economic situation that leads to crime in the U.S. is but a microcosm of what leads to terrorism in other regions.

And, similar to the psychopathology theory of terrorism, family instability is a major risk factor for crime. It is possible that those who turn to crime have had negative experiences in their development that derailed any chance for the development of healthy attitudes and behaviors. With such a distorted worldview or value system crime may not be an unreasonable option. Lastly, low educational achievement is a risk factor for crime. Perhaps the person who did not achieve the most basic of education moves towards crime for a host of reasons and that may be true of the person who moves towards terrorism.

The above discussion supports the need to study terrorism. Terrorism is a complicated psychological, cultural, and religious phenomenon that is often counterintuitive. As such, counter terrorism training may benefit from a formal education component. This is particularly true for the growing domestic terror threat. There is a growing need to study terrorism as it relates to crime because crime can serve as a vessel for terrorists. Thus, to study terrorism from a behavioral science perspective allows those in counter terrorism training and related areas to better understand the threat. Counter terrorism training will be better equipped to prepare people to address the terrorist threat.

The Yanomami of Venezuela: Ancient Culture in a Modern World

The Yanomami are an indigenous people living in the Amazon rainforest in an area including parts of Venezuela and Brazil. There are currently an estimated 20,000 Yanomami. Their ancient culture has survived throughout the years, due in part to the fact that this area is so isolated.

In general, the Yanomami live in villages with extended families under open structures with roofs, called shabonos, built from raw jungle materials. Foliage including vines and tree trunks go into creating these roofs. Because they can be easily damaged, new shabonos are built every few years.

Yanomami villages can typically hold as many as 400 people. Polygyny is common among Yanomami marital unions, but monogamous marriages also occur.

Luckily, the rainforest provides much of the resources the Yanomami need. They practice slash and burn agriculture, whereby they cut down and burn forests to create fertile fields from the burned plant life. This method is simple and effective, but they change location every so often when areas become overused and the soil has weakened.

The Yanomami people rely on hunting, fishing and agriculture. Their main crops are plantains and cassava. They eat different kinds of insects, mainly grubs, for protein. It is interesting to note that this group has among the lowest blood pressure in the world. In fact, some studies have looked into their diet for this very reason.

There are a variety of important festivals in the Yanomami culture. For example, when they experience good harvests, the people celebrate with a large feast including singing and dancing. The men will also use alcohol and hallucinogenic drugs. One notable and unusual tradition of the Yanomami is the practice of endocannibalism. When a person dies, their kin eat their ground up bones with their food. They believe this practice can keep a person's spirit alive.

The Yanomami were completely isolated until the 1960s when anthropologists first encountered them. They have since been studied extensively and are now one of the best-understood Amazonian cultures. Researchers find it fascinating to observe the traditions and lifestyle of a group that was isolated from the rest of the world for so many years.

As modern societies continue to grow and displace native cultures, it is important to study these groups and learn what we can about their traditions, diets, economic and social structures. Native cultures are mostly much closer to the natural lifestyles humans have evolved into and are in many ways much healthier than us.

Corporate Management Training Leads to Positivity in the Workplace

Corporate management training teaches professionals how to monitor the performance of their business. As a corporate manager, one must be able to recognize the essential qualities of a great leader. A strong leader must be able to communicate effectively, motivate their employees and work as part of a team. Without this motivation, employees will fail to boost the performance of the company. An effective manager must delegate responsibilities and set goals to be achieved by the time of the financial performance analysis. These qualities can be achieved by completing corporate management training.

One important quality found in good managers is the ability to communicate effectively. Communication can be defined as accurately conveying ideas to employees and helping them understand and execute short-term as well as long-term goals. Oftentimes, employees do not understand the reasons behind the tasks they take on. Communicating the importance of these tasks can only improve results. But how are these results determined? A financial performance analysis identifies financial strengths and weaknesses and evaluates financial performance in relation to the industry performance as a whole. Historical financial ratios can be used as an effective step in preparing a budget or making a forecast. With goals in mind, corporate managers can effectively communicate them to employees.

Communicating effectively is also fundamental to successfully solving problems. When evaluating a financial performance analysis, managers will be able to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the company. Managers will ultimately gain a greater awareness of financial statements, and their interrelationship can lead to improved profitability and employee performance. When an employee is dealing with a critical scenario, such as evaluating a proposed sale or budget, proper communication skills will allow the manager to describe the pros and cons of the situation in order for the employee to make a well-informed decision. It will also teach them the proper protocol for that given situation for future reference. Through implemented communication, employees will be able to acquire useful information which can be used in everyday operations.

Keeping employees motivated in the workplace will also lead to a better overall job performance. Without motivation, employees tend to complete far fewer tasks. In the past, effective discipline was used to force employees to complete tasks. During corporate management training, leaders will learn that by incorporating discipline, employees will finish tasks based on fear rather than positivity. Monetary rewards aren't the only way to reward employees for their hard work. The easiest way to recognize a job-well-done is by saying "thank you," and acknowledging the employee's hard work. Proper motivational methodology is best mastered through practice, and will ultimately influence other employees to practice the same behavior.

Part of corporate management training includes learning how to successfully design and use an integrated performance management model to effectively set specific goals that are tied to the organization's productivity and are the basis of ongoing feedback and periodic job evaluations. Setting goals is essential because it will keep employees focused on their individual goals as well as the overall company goals. By setting goals, they will also understand how their tasks will impact the company as a whole and they will know that their work is valuable. Courses in corporate management training will teach leaders how to set accurate and motivational goals.

Getting The Right Education For Your Child

So much of the education system is dependent on the age of your child, and they only have one chance to get ahead. As the old cliche goes, the sooner the better, and this is particularly true when it comes to your child's education. Do not blindly put your faith in the public school system.

Every child is unique, and if the normal schooling system is not working for your child, or you feel that it will not work, then there are other alternatives to look at that could prove to be more beneficial. From a private school to public school, parents have several options of which schooling to choose. They can:

- Use the public school system

- Teach the child themselves after school

- Hire someone to provide tutoring

- Enroll them in a private school

- Home school.

A child's education is basically their foundation to the future and what education is chosen impacts dramatically on life. The environment and style of teaching to which a child exposed is integral to their ability to learn. Many studies show that children's language development is affected not only by the quantity and quality of the language they hear from their parents and teachers, but also from their classmates. The effect of peer to peer learning is about the same as the effect that a child's parent's level of education has on their ability to communicate.

Classmates are an important learning resource for children. If a teacher can effectively manage their children's behavior, and create an environment in which children feel comfortable to converse amongst each other and learn language from one another than the teacher can collectively accelerate the children's language development. Their opportunity to do this is dependent on the school and the style of teaching. For example, using a Montessori school would give your child the chance to enhance free-thinking and creativity which is believed to increase productivity.

It is highly recommended that if you opt for the public school system, that you visit the school during a normal school day and take note of how the children interact with each other. Going alone once and with your child another time is something that many people have seen as a productive activity.

In many cases, after school tutoring, either by the parent or a tutor, can help a child enormously, but if the child is not learning at school then it is not addressing the real cause of the problem. Also it can be expensive, and the tutoring necessarily takes place after school, when children are tired and wanting to do something else.

While it's not a daunting task, home schooling takes a lot of time and effort. There is a vast supply of teaching materials available, especially on line, and it is possible that a support network or meet up group exists in your area.

For those who can afford, private schools may be the answer as they can offer different styles and types of teaching. For example, Montessori schools have a completely different style and philosophy to the public school system. Do a trial run and see how your child does in an alternative type of school for a day.

Ideally, the age when a child begins school is a good time to 'shop around' and look at all the education options available for your child, to minimalise any friction of having to take them out of school once they have settled in with their environment, schedule and friends.

----------------------------------------------------
The advantages of a Montessori education are well known in creating creativity, free thinking and productivity later in life. If you live in the Colorado area and are interested and want to know more , why not contact this Montessori school in Denver http://mchdenver.org/ and arrange a visit where you will be able to find out much more about this leading Denver Montessori school http://mchdenver.org/

Job expansion is approximated to advance by 2020 at 20.1 per cent. In one nation a very well practiced expert, as declared by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, may charge a premium price as high as $69,000 each year, while therapists in another nation, according to the National Careers Services site, can get around £40,000 every year. It would be most effective to go for a massage therapy school that carries an International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) course since achieving an ITEC certificate in anatomy and physiology will certainly go a long way in preparing you for more specialised therapies like sports massage.

To get additional schooling and certification, scrutinise the sports massage course someschools give. Your best possible alternative would be to go with an institution which can present you with complete clinical sports and remedial skills. Many people decide early in life that becoming a nurse is something that they would really like to do. They work hard through grade school to keep their grades up and then begin applying for colleges to start their path towards this career. They know that they have the compassion and understanding to do the job, now they must get the knowledge and experience that they need to be the very best nurse that they can be.

One way that many people that are aiming for the nursing degrees have found to get some on the job training and experience during their schooling is to first study and receive their CNA certification. Once they have received the CNA training, they are able to accept a position working in a hospital or nursing home as a CNA. They can work side by side with certified nurses and get a clear understanding of what these nurses do on a daily basis.

While a CNA does not do all of the medical functions that a nurse does, they do interact with the patients on a regular basis. They are there to help them with their personal care and to do some other tasks as they are trained. While they will get experience in bedside manner and how to deal with different types of patients and their families, perhaps the most useful gain they will make is that they can watch the nurses carefully and develop their own style from those that they are seeing on a regular basis.

The CNA certification will allow them to speak closely with the nurses and find out what they love and do not love about their jobs. They can hear about difficult challenges that the nurses may have faced and how these challenges were worked through. All of the CNA training that they receive will prepare them to be a better nurse once their complete their own schooling. It will also give them a unique approach to the things that they are learning in school because they will have seen some of it live in action while working as a CNA.

When they apply these real life experiences to the lessons they are learning in nursing school, they will have a much more clear understanding of what the instructors are trying to teach them. They can use these experiences to show their instructors how serious they are about advancing in the medical field as a nurse. Their CNA training is very valuable because they gain necessary experience and knowledge that will help them through their entire medical career. These pieces of knowledge form a great foundation for the knowledge and experience that is coming soon afterward.

The Shifting Tide of the Masters of Business Administration Degree

As the global economy shifts and financial climates change, the business education sector has experienced some growing pains. The business world, once driven by dreams of upper management dominated by banking and high-profile corporations, has begun to experience a paradigm shift. Small businesses and technology startups have dipped their toes into the M.B.A. recruiting waters and eager students are taking the bait.

The crumbling economy of 2006-2007 sent corporations hightailing out of business schools and gathering their resources to stay afloat. This exodus gave smaller employers the chance to swoop in and take the spoils. Universities started reaching out to startups and small to mid-sized companies that were looking for the best and brightest to join their establishments. Now that larger corporations are re-entering the industry, the "little guys" are still hanging on for the ride and competing for the best M.B.A. graduates.

Schools such as the University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt University have actively encouraged small companies to visit and hold career fairs. Vanderbilt encourages companies to attend lectures and meet students to build their reputations and increase their chances of hiring top graduates.

Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business saw a 10% increase in small business recruiters since 2008. A 2011 career-services council survey found that 43% of schools also observed a significant increase in recruiters from small firms.

Diversification

The economic downturn, while reducing its dependency on corporate recruiting, also forced the business recruiting industry to diversify. The diversification has led recruiters to consider M.B.A. graduates for more positions than just banking and consultancy. In fact, some of this year's top recruiters for M.B.A. graduates are the technology companies Electronic Arts and Zynga. Both have dominated the gaming arena and are actively seeking M.B.A. students for their programs.

Ten years ago, nearly three-quarters of M.B.A. graduates entered the finance and consultancy industries. Today, almost 50 percent land jobs in varying industries such as media, pharmaceuticals, technology, and consumer goods among others. Social media has also opened the door for M.B.A. graduates to enter one of the fasting growing sectors of the internet.

Today's tech companies seek communication and analytics skills from their M.B.A. employees since their needs have shifted to a more digital climate. Companies such as Google, Yahoo, Amazon and Facebook have also jumped on the data analytics bandwagon and they actively recruit M.B.A. graduates for similar skills.

M.B.A. recruitment has risen in popularity since the diversification began. It increased nine percent from last year along with new hires according to a global recruitment survey published by the Graduate Management Admissions Council.

International Opportunities

The landscape of career placement for M.B.A. graduates has also expanded into other countries. Since the diversification has allowed business students to expand into more sectors, the possibility for opportunities has shifted to a larger global market. Electronic Arts has locations in the UK and China, and is currently looking for graduates to fill various positions. Harvard also reported that more US graduates are taking opportunities overseas.

With technology startups spreading like wildfire and universities recognizing the in-demand skills of the modern, technologically-savvy M.B.A. graduate, the landscape for business degrees has shifted.

Traditional Coca Leaf Usage in Latin America

Usage of coca leaf in the Andes spans millennia, with the first known instance dating back to coastal Ecuador 5,000 years ago. In pre-Columbian times, coca was so valuable that the Incans restricted its use to the noble classes. Since then, coca usage has broadened to include all levels of society. Today, using coca leaf is an ordinary part of daily life for many Andean people, whether they simply chew the leaf, drink a tea, or use a manufactured product containing coca.

Coca is the natural source from which cocaine is derived. It is a shrub in the Erythroxylum family, which is comprised of different plants native to South America. The species E. coca and and E. novogranatense contain the alkaloids needed to produce cocaine. E. coca originates in the eastern Andes.

Scientific evidence dates coca usage back to Nazca, Moche, Chiribaya and Inca cultures. Archaeologists have evidence of the use of coca from deposits of alkali on human teeth and images of in Peru's Ayacucho valley caves. This took place between 5250-2800 BC. Recovered ancient ceramic pots also showed that coca was in use in coastal Ecuador around 3000 BC.

For the ancient Andeans, coca was an important part of daily life. It was used for celebration and also had medicinal properties. It helps treat fatigue, dental issues, headaches, asthma, impotence and much more. Coca tea, called Mate de coca, was a common drink throughout Andean populations and is still available. In fact, it is frequently served in tourist establishments to treat nausea and dizziness caused by altitude sickness. Many members of indigenous communities commonly chew on the coca leaf.

Ancient cultures began to chew coca by folding the leaves and placing them between their rear teeth for chewing. This unique way of consuming coca was first observed by Amerigo Vespucci in Northeast Brazil in 1499 AD. However, there is also ample archaeological evidence that confirms this practice.

Coca was also part of the religion of the Andean people who lived in Peru, Boliva, Ecuador, Colombia and parts of Northern Chile and Argentina. While these beliefs began in pre-Incan times, they continue on today. Coca leaves are read like tea leaves for divination and used in shamanic rituals. People in some parts of South America even chewed the leaves before meditation.

Even in recent times, coca remains important to the people of some South American countries and some usages are completely legal. For example, the governments of Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela have recommended the use of it in common products including tea, soft drinks, gum, condoms and toothpaste. They are even interested in exporting these goods to boost their economies. Representatives advocating these goods also seek to convince the world that coca is not just used for producing cocaine, but that it contains valuable vitamins and minerals and can be used in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Gain Cultural Competency And Learn Spanish In Buenos Aires

In today's global society, understanding different cultures and speaking different languages is increasingly valuable. With the rise in the desire to learn new languages have come new teaching methods and new technologies, but the truth is that the simple, fun method of cultural immersion and language lessons remains the most effective way of learning. This is great news for anyone who loves to travel! If you're interested in learning Spanish, why not consider a cultural immersion experience in Buenos Aires?

Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is a beautiful city that boasts a well-rounded culture inclusive of many aspects. From tall, modern buildings to lovely white beaches, it is the perfect setting for learning another language. Imagine walking past Casa Rosada (the presidential palace) on your way back from class, passing the tango dancers on a nearby plaza and then sinking your feet into the white sand and listening to the waves as you study your Spanish lesson for the day. As you walk back to your apartment in the old colonial section, the San Telmo district, you stop to buy fresh fruit at an open market and practice the vocabulary words you learned in your last lesson with the vendor.

This is a far brighter picture than one of you using a do-it-yourself computer software as you sit on your couch and struggle to make sense of what you are learning. Who wants to learn Spanish by labeling and sticking post it notes to everything in sight in your house? If you decide to learn Spanish in Buenos Aires, not only will it be a faster, more effective way to grasp the language, it will also add to your life experiences, giving you the one on one interaction you need to understand the culture that goes hand in hand with a language.

Oftentimes, when someone is taking classes, but is not immersed in the culture, the knowledge of the vocabulary and grammatical structure is present, but when that person is put into a situation where conversation with a native speaker is necessary, the competency is not as great as before thought. This is why immersion has such great benefits. For example, when someone from Argentina uses the word, "muletilla", during conversation, it really means nothing significant at all. This would be the same as the English use of the word, "right", a filler word we use to show we understand or are listening. This is one instance where being immersed in the culture of the language is so beneficial, as little things like this might not be taught in a classroom. Also, there usually seems to be an issue of speed for most people. Many times when learning another language, in particular Spanish, it is difficult to understand the person with whom you are speaking because they speak so rapidly. When immersed, the rapidity of the language becomes familiar and comfortable, and will eventually not be an issue.

So whether you are the adventurous type looking for an educational thrill, a business person seeking to gain cultural competency and language proficiency, or someone who simply would like the experience of another culture to master Spanish, Buenos Aires is a fabulous choice. It has something to offer everyone regardless of your background or personality. Step out into the wide open culture of Buenos Aires, Argentina and embrace the opportunities that wait you!

Tips for Aspiring Engineers

Did you know that about 1/3 of incoming college freshmen these days intend to study science and engineering? About 9% of freshman college students plan to focus specifically on engineering. Given that so many young people seem to be interested in an engineering-related career, we wanted to compile some tips that would help to send these young engineers in the right direction.

First, it is a great idea if you can identify specific people and projects and products that have been an inspiration for you. If you have always loved Apple products, the late Steve Jobs may have been your mentor. Or perhaps you are inspired by the Segway and its inventor, Dean Kamen. If the person and products are known at all, it is easy to get a lot of information about how those people and products became great successes. Then, be sure to emulate their positive traits in everything that you do - personally, scholastically and professionally.

Next, we highly recommend that you assemble a good project portfolio. You should try to take part in any hands-on learning experience that you can. This means that you will have unique projects to show any potential employer when you get out of school. Many of the students you compete against will merely be able to list the classes they took, while you will have specific, concrete projects completed. More importantly, you will be more likely to keep the knowledge you learned because you have used the knowledge to engineer something tangible.

It also is very important to network as much as you can. If you ever want to be a leader in your engineering field, it is very important to know people, not just have a lot of engineering knowledge. You should try to go to engineering and science lectures at your university and get to know the speakers. You also can check with the alumni group at your school and get a list of graduates who want to network with current students. You also can network with Linkedin.com. But you should always try to meet people in person when you can.

We also advise that you work in a scientific or engineering team as much as you can. When you are in your career, you are going to be working on projects with other people most of the time. The people skills that you develop working on engineering and scientific projects in college will help you later on.

Further, you should try to attain a leadership role in any project you work on. Actually, you do not have to be a team leader to be a leader. You can really do some forms of leadership from any part of the group. You will be able to influence how people are working with each other and affect the decision making process. The leader of an engineering company does not always have to be the actual manager of the project or the president of the company.

Last, an engineer can be very proficient in all of the scientific aspects of the job, but if he or she does not have any business sense, he or she will not be as valuable to the firm. So you should try to take business classes so you understand about profits and losses, contract negotiation and so on.

About Spanish Schools in Argentina

People who plan to come to Argentina for business or pleasure but do not currently speak Spanish will want to find out more about Spanish Schools in Argentina. For example, a family from the United States decides to spend a few months living in Argentina and wants to begin learning the native language as quickly as possible. Instead of relying on a hired translator, a Spanish smartphone app or some kind of language translation device, the family could begin taking Spanish classes.

In some cases, a company determines that it needs to transfer a key employee to Argentina to oversee business operations. If the employee does not yet know Spanish, he or she can find a school upon arrival in the country. An employee who brings the whole family down will want to make sure that each member can take Spanish classes to help get acclimated. There's nothing like not being able to speak the language in a new country to make a person feel left out and awkward. Family members can practice their new Spanish language skills at home every day after attending their classes. As an added benefit, taking on a group project like learning a language can help bring a family closer together.

Once a person begins learning the Spanish language, he or she will be able to more easily navigate from city to city and find required goods and services. It's far better to be able to peruse a menu and pick from any dish instead of relying on ordering one of the few Spanish items you have memorized, for example. Being able to scan a newspaper and watch television broadcasts in the native language will enable the student to easily keep up with current events, putting him or her at an advantage over those who forego Spanish classes. More importantly, being able to tell a doctor what is wrong with a patient without getting a translator involved can hasten the healing process and ensure timely treatment.

It's a good idea to check the credentials of any Spanish school to make sure that the instructors are properly trained and certified. Prospective students will also want to examine the offered curriculum before signing up for classes. For example, if the student is interested in learning about the culture of Argentina, the school should offer instruction that focuses on literature, art, history and other relevant subjects. If the student requires specific training in Spanish in order to discuss advanced business topics with coworkers and clients, it's a good idea to make sure that the school's instructors can meet these needs.

If a company is paying for a transferred employee's Spanish lessons, the employee may not have much of a choice in what school he or she will be attending. This also means that the employee may not have to worry about doing price comparisons for lessons and any required instructional materials. Otherwise, it's prudent to find out what several comparable schools are charging for their Spanish instruction before making a decision about where to enroll.

Convenience is another important factor to consider when looking for a school. Business people may need to take classes at night because they are spending all day in the office or are out meeting with clients. Families that want to take Spanish classes as a group may prefer to receive their instruction early in the morning, before engaging in recreational activities or exploring the local culture. Finding a school that is close to the student's hotel or dwelling is advantageous, because the less time and hassle it takes to get to classes, the more likely the student will be to attend each session.

Why Is There Need for CNA Certification Classes?

In hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, home health programs, hospices and other medical care facilities across the nation exists the certified nursing assistant. These individuals are often the ones that interact directly with patients and deal with assisting them in getting around, eating, and performing daily tasks that are required for their recovery and health. These workers are often considered "front line" healthcare workers, and they provide a valuable link from patient to professional Nurse Practitioner or Doctor. Because this job is so vital to the health and well being of a growing segment of the population the government mandates specific levels of training to reduce liability and ensure quality of care.

This means that anyone wishing to become a certified nursing assistant must get CNA training and pass state administered tests for CNA certification that is typically valid for a year. In wondering exactly why this is important one needs to remember that these workers are responsible for taking care of the elderly or infirm who might not be able to express for themselves what their issues are due to the effects of age, disease, or disability. In order to ensure that these individuals receive top line care and their families feel safe entrusting them with a stranger training is required to give these workers the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs safely.

Some of the things that a Certified Nursing Assistant must know include how to properly observe, document, and report a wide range of clinical data and treatment provided. They must be able to identify altered behavior so that medical professionals above them know if there are problems. The CNA must also be knowledgeable enough to understand the reasons for prescribed rehabilitation tasks and how to ensure those are implemented safely. This requires good working knowledge about the human body and its limits as those apply to each individual. Another key element is being able to take and record basic vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration and weight. They may be, in some cases, able to take samples and collect specimens as needed for medical testing. This often times is combined with assisting patients with using the toilet and personal hygiene.

For some certified nursing assistants, depending on position or location of their employment, particularly if they are doing home care or hospice work additional focus of their CNA training includes how to provide emotional, corrective behavioral, and other forms of support to both the patient being cared for and the patient's family, particularly those relatives who are directly providing non-professional care. They need to know about nutrition and economic budgeting also as they may be tasked with meal preparation, shopping, meal planning, and feeding.

Online CNA Certification Courses

It takes time and scheduling to embark on a new career, especially when schooling is involved. Much of the CNA (certified nursing assistant) training can be done online and crafted to work around your schedule. If you are considering a future as a CNA, here are some facts to consider.

Class Time

Taking online courses to prepare for the final CNA certification is no different than attending a physical class. What is refreshing, however, is the ability to schedule your classes around your life. Your setting can be your home, a library or anywhere where you are able to focus online while listening to lectures and taking notes for exams.

Subject Matter

CNA training classes consist of subjects like science, anatomy, health, physiology, infection control, medical terms, nursing skills and much more. The theoretical knowledge learned for a 6-8 week program, or approximately 75 hours can prepare you for your clinicals and ultimate CNA certification. Some online CNA training courses offer videos of real time clinicals but almost all require a certain amount of time to be spent in the field.

Accredited Schools

Many accredited schools now offer both physical and online CNA training classes. Make sure that the CNA training program you are considering is checked with the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing and Education. Selecting an online school that meets the training standards of your state can save you wasted time and a poor start toward your future. Do your homework on selecting a well-respected online school. You may even find yourself wanting to return to further your career later on because of the great instructors.

Cost of Online Classes

Although online CNA training is just as intense as a classroom environment, many online programs are cheaper. There are also plenty of grants, scholarships and private organization funding that can motivate you into entering into an online program. The best way to learn about funding is to ask through the school that you decide to sign up with. Any accredited school will have suggestions on the type and amount of funding you need.

Putting off school for lack of transportation, length of travel or scheduling is no longer a hindrance in starting CNA training. Once you discover how easy and flexible learning online can be, you will be motivated to make it to the final CNA certification and begin your career as a CNA in the medical field. Once you are armed with your CNA certification, finding a job will be easy. With skyrocketing health care costs, CNAs are a welcome sight to most medical facilities.

Compassion Needed When Becoming a CNA

CNA training classes will definitely prepare an individual to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills in order to have a successful career working in a health care facility. As the population increases and continues to grow older every year, the need for certified nursing assistants grows with it. Yet, before an individual heads to the Internet or to a local college campus to sign up for CNA training classes, keep in mind it takes a certain unique type of individual possessing a great deal of compassion for others that is added to the requirements necessary for success. This type of individual should consider examining the personal and financially rewarding career as a certified nursing assistant.

What Does A CNA Do?

A CNA works directly through the supervision of an RN or doctor providing daily care and assistance to patients in a number of different medical settings. These include retirement homes, nursing homes, long-term care centers, physicians' offices, hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Typically, a CNA will assist patients in these facilities completing daily activities that include personal hygiene, grooming, eating, exercising, dressing and other activities needed to sustain life. The CNAs also assist with medical duties such as checking vital signs monitoring body temperatures, heart rates and blood pressure. A CNA is charged with checking on the patient's condition on a regular consistent basis throughout the working shift and notifying the charge nurse about that patient's status.

Where Are Training Programs Found?

Often, a certified nursing assistant training program may be sponsored by the facility hiring personnel. There are also many schools offering online courses of study as well as the traditional on-campus classroom setting. Today's high-tech Internet allows for students to participate in education courses online featuring such tools as video, teleconferencing and online seminars that allow individuals to interact with one another as well as with qualified teachers. Topics covered during training courses include learning about human anatomy, biology, nutrition, chemistry as well as developing the basic physical skills required for the nursing profession. It is very important that all students possess good communication and observation skills.

How Does A CNA Candidate Get A License?

CNA candidates must pass a certification exam supervised by officials from their State Board of Nursing. The exam is broken down into two parts consisting of a written or oral test plus a clinical or practical exam. The clinical portion of the test will require that students demonstrate they have the correct skills and abilities to perform a number of randomly selected procedures, usually three to five different nursing techniques, on a live subject.

Candidates need to pass both exam parts to be issued a CNA license.

Why Are Increasing Numbers Of Adults Going Back To College?

More and more adult students are enrolling in college degree programs because higher education can lead to higher-paying jobs, allow for career advancement, provide training in a highly employable field, and afford the opportunity for a career change. Going back to college is becoming a very attractive option for many adults over the age of 25 who did not enroll in college right after high school graduation. Some got married right out of high school, some went into the workforce and some into the military. Regardless of what you did after high school, now that you are older (and wiser), you probably realize the opportunities for bettering yourself and exploring new options are endless.

Why Go Back to School At My Age?

Obtaining a college degree will often lead to opportunities such as earning a higher salary, moving up the "corporate ladder," and gaining knowledge and training in fields that will make your skill set more appealing to prospective employers. Here are even more reasons adults are pursuing college degrees in their 30's, 40's and even 50's:

• Open your own business-- Lots of people have the dream of starting their own business. If you want to own your own business, obtaining a degree is a great place to start. A Business Administration Degree (B.S.) or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) will provide a foundation of business principles and strategies to allow you to venture out there and see what opportunities are within your reach.

• Gain a competitive advantage in the job market--More education means more skills, and more skills mean greater employability. Obtaining a degree in a highly sought-after field like Computer Science or Criminal Justice will allow you to pursue a career in an area that currently has more demand than supply.

• Change careers--A degree may allow you the opportunity to change careers altogether. If you have always dreamed of being a Licensed Professional Counselor but are now an office worker, now is the time to pursue that dream!

• Desire to go back to work--Many stay-at-home parents whose children are now grown want to obtain the college degree they never had time for when their children were young. Statistically speaking, most adult students are women and many of them spent years raising a family and now want to pursue their own career desires.

Adults Enrolling in College--Startling Statistics-

If you're thinking about returning to school to earn your degree, you're not alone. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the ten-year period from 1999-2009, enrollment in "degree-granting postsecondary institutions" increased 38%, from 14copy to a staggering 20.4 million. Most of this growth was attributed to full-time students (enrollment rose 45%) compared to part-time enrollment (enrollment rose 28%). What is even more amazing is that the number of women who have enrolled in degree programs was much higher, the number of full time male students increased 36% while women who enrolled in degree programs increased a whopping 63% in that same 10 year period.

Regardless of your reason, going back to college is an exciting, challenging and courageous undertaking. Since there are so many scholarships available for adults and for online degree programs, the opportunity to return to school for that degree doesn't have to be a dream any longer - it can become a reality!

----------------------------------------------------
Susan Haubrich has some interesting statistics regarding that number of adults that are going back to school to get their degrees. To help reduce the strain of returning to college, Colorado Christian University offers a variety of adult scholarships. Visit http://www.ccu.edu/blogs/cags/category/degree-completion-programs/ if you are going back to school as an adult.

Why E Learning Course Design Fails

Unless your organisation is blessed with massive resources and high-end development skills, it's likely you will be creating your e learning course design on a tight budget and to a demanding timescale.

If this is your reality, then you will almost certainly be using an e learning authoring tool to help you create your finished product. Regardless of the tool you are using (and there are scores of them out there for you to choose from) they will be both a blessing and a curse.

A blessing because they can help you do all sorts of things quickly and easily. A curse because they can constrain your thinking and limit your creativity.

The single biggest failure of much e learning design is the tendency to create very dry, content-centric courses that present screens and screens of text. Learners are treated like sponges, expected to absorb this content with little or no time for practice or reflection. Multimedia elements and interactions are added as ways to 'liven up' this text.

In many respects, e learning authoring tools contribute greatly to this problem. Most authoring tools encourage designers to think in terms of linear screens of content organised into a hierarchy. To reinforce this thinking, many tools offer the ability to import previously created PowerPoint slides.

Using this as your starting point, the authoring tool provides the option of layering individual screens with multimedia elements such as audio, video, animations and graphics. Additionally, ready-made interactions such as multiple-choice questions or drag and drop functionality can be added to screens.

Before long, course designers are creating little more than whizzy online books and high-end multimedia presentations. The finishing touch is a series of tests provided at the end of each content section to convince everyone that learning might actually take place.

Learners are forced to complete the course and take the test. Very little learning happens (apart from short term memory recall to get through the test). The learners are bored and resentful. Everyone's time has been wasted and your e learning has failed.

To avoid this frighteningly common situation happening time and time again, course designers need to do two things.

First, to take control of their authoring tool, rather than allowing the authoring tool to control them. In short, the functionality of the authoring tool should not be driving the development of your course.

In taking this first step, course designers are well on the way to achieving step two: breaking out of the straitjacket of content-centric thinking. This involves thinking about the world your learners inhabit and reflecting that reality in your e learning.

This is achieved by taking a much more context and scenario-driven approach to development. Instead of thinking primarily about the content your learners need to know, think much more about the contexts and challenges that your learners will face when using their new knowledge and skills.

Rather than just telling your learners lots of stuff (with a short test at the end), create appropriate contexts and challenges. Let your learners practice and discover relevant knowledge and skills for themselves through the actions they take and the decisions they make.

Benefits of a Physical Security Course to Obtain a Certificate in Security

Let's face it, with such an increasing workforce, getting hired is becoming more and more intense. With the availability for online and alternative education, more people are able to pursue higher education, which offers even greater competition. Some people, however, may not be able to afford the costs associated with getting a degree, and need to seek less expensive alternatives. Certificate courses provide an excellent alternative to those who find themselves short on money and even time. The certificate provides the holder a sign of competency within a field of study. The protection/ security field is no exception, with many schools offering a physical security course that provides a certificate in security.

As cost is always a factor, schools that offer a certificate in security course often provide them at a fraction of the cost of their degree programs. Sometimes these courses cost less than associate degree programs at the same school. Many certificate courses run between $4,000- 7,000, as opposed to the $10,000 or more for an Associate Degree and up to $25,000 or more for a Bachelor's. A certificate course offers an affordable option to someone wishing to elevate their formal education.

Certificate courses also offer other benefits besides being less expensive. A physical security course directed towards a certificate in security is less time consuming than degree programs. These courses offer an in-depth look at the specifics within the security industry while eliminating the general education aspects required for degree programs. The courses are often set up in blocks that can be taken when it best suits the student, as opposed to the tighter timelines required in degree programs. This allows greater flexibility in schedules, so for those in the military, police officers on rotating shifts, or anyone on a shifting schedule, these courses can often be completed before schedules change. Some schools may offer compacted courses that can be completed in 6 months or less, while others may have the course broken into blocks that require a longer overall completion time, but require less intensity during the course of instruction.

Even a person who already holds a degree might find benefits in obtaining a certificate in security. A person with a degree might have selected certain elective courses, but desires the information in other classes not taken. A certificate program allows the student to go back and take the additional classes and receive "credit" for the classes. The course may also showcase a specialized knowledge within the field of security not necessarily advertised by the degree itself.

A person will never be wrong for trying to better themselves with education. With the current costs of education rapidly increasing, the opportunity for some to pursue a degree program may be greatly diminished. For others, the degree they hold may not be suited for what they truly want to do. They may be looking for a change, or simply looking to enhance their educational background for personal development. For these reasons and others a physical security course that provides a certificate in security may provide the background desired and needed to move their career to the next level. The costs and time requirements make certificate programs very attractive and the specific knowledge presented allows for focused attention in the security field. Anyone who finds themselves in any of the categories above would do well to find a school that offers a program suited to their needs.

What is a Pole Barn?

It's possible you have never heard of the term pole barn, and even if you have, you probably didn't think twice about what it could be. However, there is every chance you have seen and even been inside pole barns without even realizing it.

You will typically find pole barns on farms; hence the name barn. Most farmers construct pole barns to store crops, animal feed, animals and of farm equipment. They are one of the least expensive types of building constructions and yet have proved to be strong and long lasting and therefore perfect for a busy farmer.

However, pole barns are used for many other purposes. Examples include sheds, garages and workshops. Many of the stores you visit out of town are pole barns, but they have been carefully disguised; which is something that's easy to do and very effective.

The reason they have the word pole in front is because the main structural part of the pole barn is the poles. All other components attach or connect to the poles, such as the trusses, roofing and sidings.

One of the reasons why people opt for a pole barn is because it is not necessary to lay concrete foundations and flooring. This can save a substantial amount of money and also makes the building process quicker. Someone who is proficient at constructing pole barns can usually complete the build in a couple of days, depending on the size.

Apart from the roof, everything else is an optional extra, including the sidings. Many barns of farms don't need sidings, the roof protects what's in the barn from wet weather, but air can flow freely around whatever is stored in the barn; essential to dry certain crops as it stops them rotting.

Sidings can be made of wood or sheet metal; the latter is the most popular and the least expensive, but doesn't look quite to good as wooden sidings. Additionally, metal sidings don't rot and need very little maintenance.

If you want to make a pole barn more comfortable you have any type of flooring you like. Insulation can be put into the walls and then boarded over and painted to give a smooth professional finish. Lining can be put under the roof to give a flat ceiling. Any electrics and plumbing can be built inside the wall before the inner lining is fitted so once everything is complete you will not be able to recognize it as a pole barn.

Another reason why many people choose pole barns is because of the ease of construction; they come is ready-to-build kit form which includes full instructions. Building a pole barn yourself saves even more money, and many people find the challenge interesting and rewarding; not many people can say they have constructed their own building.

If you don't want to construct a pole barn yourself, then simply get one built for you. Obviously it is more expensive because of the labor costs, but you will find it works out substantially less expensive than other types of building.

National Autonomous University Of Mexico: A Brief

Under the direction of then-President Porfirio, the Minister of Eduction founded the National Autonomous University of Mexico (NAUM) on September 22nd 1910. The institution it replaced had been closed for some time, but in an effort to step away from its inaccurate and decidedly Catholic roots, the Porfirio regime did not revive the old school. Instead the goal was to form a university that was secular, appropriate for the entire nation, serve as an example of higher education and promote Mexican liberalism. The concept was apparently successful, as NUAM has expanded to open campuses all over the globe and has some of the world's most respected scholars among its alumni.

The main campus is located in Mexico City and includes more than 40 faculties, a cultural center, ecological reserve, several museums, and has now been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Central Library is easily spotted from a distance. The entire seven story facade is inlaid with an intricate tile mosaic that is striking to say the least. Satellite campuses of NAUM are located in several Canadian and American cities such as Gatineau, Quebec and San Antonio Texas.

While Mexico has always been among the leaders in research in the world, NAUM itself has emerged as a premiere research institution attracting scientists from Russia, India, the US and Canada. For example, research in astrophysics and chemistry led by two students at NAUM resulted in the very important discovery of an increasingly depleted ozone layer. Also, students of the astronomy department have recently been busy contributing to the design and construction of the world's largest and most sensitive single-aperture telescope located on Sierra Negra.

Dozens of prominent scholars have graced the campuses of NAUM, from heads of state to sport icons to political activists. Over the years, one President of Costa Rica studied at the university while five Presidents of Mexico also went there. International ambassadors representing Mexico are alumni, with some now living in Russia, France, Lebanon and New Zealand. One graduate from NAUM includes Nobel Peace Prize laureate Alfonso Garcia Robles.

To produce world-class graduates, a good university needs world-class faculty. One member of the NAUM faculty was the first Mexican astronaut in space, Rodolfo Neri Vela. The word 'Mesoamerica' was coined by the founder of the National School of Anthropology and History at NAUM, and he continued to do research there until he passed away in 1972. This last name may be of someone who has passed on, but his accomplishments at NAUM illustrate just how long the university has been on the world stage of higher education.
