Choose The Right Career For Long Term Wealth

Choosing the right job is more important than ever. With so many companies laying people off right and left, it's getting harder and harder to find a job where you don't have to be always looking over your shoulder. Sure, it feels great to be part of a hot young startup, but when they go bust, you'll be out on the street with nothing to show for it.

In the old days, getting a union job was the ticket to long term employment, but even that isn't working much anymore. Many states are significantly cutting back on unions, and people are starting to feel the pinch. In order to find a job that will last, you've got to take matters into your own hands.

Doing research is the first thing you'll need to do. Ultimately, you need to match up your skills with an industry that is always going to be in demand. For example, if you are good at working with people, you should apply those to an industry that's got some staying power. Being a human resources representative in a car company would be a better choice than being one in a company that makes radios. Cars will always be in demand, radios not so much.

One industry that is always going to be in demand is health care. People will always get sick, and people will always need to see the doctor or visit the hospital. In fact, the next ten or twenty years are expected to see a huge boom in all aspects of the health care industry, as baby boomers start to retire in huge numbers.

That means any industry that's related to health care is really going to take off. Insurance, medical billing, nursing, medical devices, and many other industries are a great place to be working. No matter what your skills are, you can find something there that will be perfect for you.

If you are an engineer, for example, working at a company that makes medical devices would be perfect. If you're good with numbers and paperwork, then medical billing is great. Due to upcoming health care legislation, this is really going take off.

Another great field to get into is nursing. Nurses are always in demand, and now more than ever. Most states still allow for unions, which means you'll get great pay and great benefits. Becoming registered isn't as difficult as most people think. Going to a nursing school may be expensive, but you can usually get a loan to pay the tuition, and with your salary, you'll easily be able to pay back the loan in a couple years.
