People question what a nurse is really made of. Many would plainly consider them as people who are working in the hospital who sees to it that you do keep to your medicine schedule while you are still within the hospital's care. Caring for the sick and the afflicted is not a skill that can be inherited from your fore fathers. These skills and knowledge are instead learned and practiced through formal training. It was mentioned earlier that nursing courses can be completed within one to four years in time. An Associate of Science in Nursing program, or ASN, are usually taken by young adults who cannot wait that long to start working professionally. Bachelor of Science in Nursing takes four years to finish even if they are in some ways still similar to ASN.
ASN is the easiest way to become a nurse for those who are financially unstable. Both ASN and BSN graduates can take the National Council Licensure Exam and can be considered as registered professionals once they have passed the test. ASN graduates do not differ from BSN graduates since they both have the enough knowledge to do complete physical assessment as well administer intravenous therapy and drugs to patients. However, those who have finished a Bachelor of Science degree are deemed to be more competitive, and they have the advantage in getting promoted.
It does not matter in the end if you choose to get an ASN program or get a BSN degree. The most important thing is that you have enough nurse training that prepares you for your career in the future.
