These days, more and more young people are opting for practical nursing school, and it is not hard to see why. With scores of graduates from 4 year liberal arts colleges on the unemployment line with no real job prospects in sight, many are desperate to find a career that offers decent pay and just as importantly job stability.
The health care field offers all of this in spades. With aging populations throughout the developed world, it is a near certainty that workers in the medical field will be in high demand for many years (and likely decades) to come. Nursing offers several advantages. For one thing, the pay and benefits are good-around $50k a year depending on the type of nurse you become and the area of the country (or world) you work. There is also very good job stability. With job openings in most parts of the country, nursing program graduates can pretty much pick and choose where they want to work. Online Nursing Schools
An online practical nursing school has great appeal, especially with younger students that have grown up in the internet age. Online schools offer the convenience of being able to attend in your pajamas from your bedroom any time day or night. There are usually scheduled times for group lectures and such, but it is still a very flexible schedule. Online nursing schools also save you on commuting costs like gas and food, so they can be a less expensive option in that regard as well. At some point during the training, however, there will be a need to attend a class somewhere for practical application, so don't go in expecting to complete your entire training without ever attending a class.
'Brick and Mortar' Nursing Schools
The traditional 'brick and mortar' practical nursing schools may lack the convenience of going to school online, but some students have a hard time learning that way. With the traditional nursing school model, you get together in person with other classmates, get to know them, study with them, and bond with them. Many students find this atmosphere helpful in getting through the sometimes difficult training. Finally, the traditional nursing school will likely have more time for practicing what you are learning, and in this is an important aspect of training in the medical field.
