When it comes to the quest of increasing your brain power, your diet is included. You eat foods to keep your body healthy and strong, and the same applies to the brain. You should try fit in fruits and vegetables that are full of antioxidants as they protect your brain cells. Most fruits are recommended for the brain as well as vegetables like avocados and spinach.

Lower Calories And Saturated Fat

Saturated fats actually interfere with memory and concentration in general. Foods that are high in saturated fats include butter, cheese, and red meats. These foods should be consumed in moderation, and calorie intake should be considered too.

Consuming Foods With Omega 3 Fatty Acid

A diet composed of omega 3 fatty acids help increase memory power. Make attempts to eat more cold water fish, they are highly endowed with omega 3 acids. Other consumes you could also take include pumpkin seeds, soya beans, flax seeds and walnuts.

If you want to improve the power of your memory then try to live more stress free. When we are stressed out our brain is concentrating on keeping ourselves safe and not trying to take on a lot of new information. Mnemonics are usually hints of things that make us remember easily. Mnemonics are known to increase memory power by connecting things with images, words or sentences. Visual images work better since the image coded in the brain is easily retrievable. For example if you read a poster with a big image on it, you tend to remember the image more than the actual words on the poster.


Avoid Cramming And Practice Frequently

When you try to cram a bunch of information into your memory over a short period it usually doesn't work very well. That is because you haven't actually used that information and put it into practice yet. When you cram it is likely that most of the information is only in the short term memory and lost relatively quickly, there for you should practice something over and over until it sticks and is stored into your long term memory.

In conclusion, do not let your memory grow old with you. Stay active and ensure you are in a stimulated environment. Sharpen your memory with the above mentioned methods to increase memory power even as you age.
