What Actually Are Police Auctions?

Although the Police force are doing a great job on cracking down on crime, bad things still happen. Cars are still stolen and houses are still broken into. Luckily, a lot of these criminals are put behind bars. The aim is not only to punish them, but also to try and change them so that when they get out, they have changed for the better thus creating a better society. The reality is that thousands of items get confiscated by the Police every single year. The question is; where do all these items go?

It really does depend on the item. For instance, drugs are not exactly products that should be put back into society, so they are obviously destroyed. Other things such as weapons that have been confiscated from gangs will also meet the same fate. Of course, there are confiscated items that can easily be put back into our society and used again. Every single day, things like cars, TV sets, music players, games consoles and loads more items are confiscated by the police and reintroduced back in to society.

Every year, thousands of Police auctions take place that people are bidding on. When ever the items can not be returned to their owner, after a certain period of time they will be auctioned off at these specialist Police auctions. The aim is to raise cash for the force, rather than all of these items going to waste. A lot of traders are invited to these auctions.

They have the chance to pick up a lot of top quality items at extremely low prices, which gives them a great opportunity to sell them on at a profit. Of course, there are individuals there too, that are looking to find the perfect bargain for their home. Essentially, these auctions turn something extremely negative, into something extremely positive, which is a great thing.

Police auctions are not necessarily easy to find. Although this is a chance for the force to raise lots of cash for new equipment and training amongst other things, the auction events are surprisingly fairly low key. People that want to get involved with police auctions are really going to have to do their home work in order to find them. Searching the internet will usually yield in terms of results. Visiting a local station might also be a good idea, as many stations will know of where the next decent auction is going to be held. The fact of the matter is, the less people that are there, the better the deals are going to be, which is why people tend to keep whatever information that they have to themselves.

Commonly items are heavily discounted although this will vary depending on the size of the event and the products on offer. Obscure products tend to see the biggest discount, items that only certain people might want, such as a pink CD player for instance. As a second hand obscure item, bidders are likely to pick something like this up for a small fraction of the normal retail price. Cars are obviously extremely popular, so even getting a smaller discount could actually be a fantastic result. All in all there are certainly plenty of great deals on offer!
